SERVICE FLASH

Date:17/8/12
Day:1
Service:ServiceB

R1. Keith Cronin (IRL) / Marshall Clarke (GBR) - Citroen DS3 R3T
We had the right tyres this time - hard slicks. But I was a bit worried when it started raining at the end of stage six, so just backed off. Everything is going according to plan so far.

R2. Tom Cave (GBR) / Craig Parry (GBR) - Citroen DS3 R3
We made some changes to the car at the previous service halt. It felt better and it was going well until it started raining and we had to slow down. I don;t think we lost much time, so I'm happy so far.

R3. Mark Donnelly (GBR) / Dai Roberts (GBR) - Renault Clio R3
I'm glad the day is over to be honest. The boys fixed the flat change problem in service, but it must have put a strain on the clutch because that's not working now and it's been really difficult leaving the stage starts.

R4. Elfyn Evans (GBR) / Philip Pugh (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
Still all OK. Besides the rain at the end of stage six, there's no other issues and I'm pleased that we've been able to hang on to second place.

R5. Alastair Fisher (GBR) / Daniel Barritt (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
Not a good rally so far. We hit a rock in the road on stage five, got a puncture and had to stop and change it, so we've lost over three minutes.

R6. Guy Wilks (GBR) / David Moynihan (IRL) - Renault Twingo R2 Evo
Today's gone well. No problems. Things did get a bit lively though when the setting sun was shining right into my eyes and then again when it started raining.

R8. Desi Henry (GBR) / Barry McNulty (GBR) - Citroen DS3 R3
Nightmare! Just when I thought things were getting better we got a puncture in stage five and had to stop and change the wheel.

R9. Jonathan Greer (GBR) / Gordon Noble (GBR) - Citroen DS3 R3
We had a good run through those three stages and moved up to third place. There's still more to come though, as we could have gone quicker through stage four.

R10. Osian Pryce (GBR) / Iestyn Williams (GBR) - Citroen DS3 R3
I'm a bit fed up that we lost third place. Probably a bit too cautious. Still we're here and there's a long day ahead tomorrow.

R12. Jukka Korhonen (FIN) / Mikael Korhonen (FIN) - Skoda Fabia R2
We made some changes to the car at service and I am driving better now. I'm still learning things though, especially when it comes to driving on wet tarmac.

R14. Matthew Cathcart (GBR) / James Morgan (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
It was raining on stage six so I decided to take it steady. I then saw some smoke ahead of me and slowed down as I thought it might be a car in front with a problem. But when I got close I realised it was someone's barbeque!

R16. Callum Black (GBR) / Paul Wakely (GBR) - Citroen DS3 R3T
Not happy. The car was feeling really good through stage four and then we spun twice on stage five. Then, when it started to rain on stage six, the screen misted up and I couldn't see where I was going.

R17. Jussi Kumpumaki (FIN) / Jani Salo (FIN) - Ford Fiesta R2
It was a really big accident. We were flat in fifth going down hill when the car went light over a bump on a fast right hand bend. It clipped a bank and rolled five times. Jani and I are okay, but the car is finished. I don't think we will have it ready for Yorkshire, which is a shame.

R21. Chris Ingram (GBR) / Stephen McAuley - Renault Twingo R2 Evo
That loop was much better. We made some changes to the car at service and I've felt more confident, which shows in our times.

R22. Ruary MacLeod (GBR) / Paul Beaton (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
No repeat of the earlier incident with the bank, but I'm driving much steadier now as we've got nothing to aim at now. It's great experience though.

R23. Niko-Pekka Nieminen (FIN) / T Suominen (FIN) - Ford Fiesta R2
Stage four was okay, but stage five was not so good. It's the first time ion the rain on tarmac, so I am definitely still at school.

R25. Gethin Jones (GBR) / Kevin Devine (GBR) - Ford Fiesta ST
That was better. I must have got my finger out!

R26. James Grint (GBR) / Craig Drew (GBR) - Citroen DS3 R3
After a few things had been adjusted at service, the car was behaving much better and felt good, so I know there's more potential. But then we were another to get a puncture in stage five. We stopped to change the wheel, but then the car fell off the jack and we lost loads of time. It's disappointing, but I'm here to learn as much as I can and now we're out of the race, there's no pressure for tomorrow, so I can just got out and enjoy it and take on board as much information as I can.

R30. Arron Newby (GBR) / Martyn Taylor (GBR) - Skoda Fabia R2
We had a big spin, which was a bit of a worry, but everything is okay and I'm pleased to get to the end of the first day with no problems.

R33. Alex Parpottas (GBR) / Chris Davies (GBR) - Ford Fiesta R2
I'm pleased to have had a trouble-free run. I was a bit steady in the rain, but hey - I'm here!

R36. Garry Pearson (GBR) / Craig Wallace (GBR) - Renault Twingo R1
I just need to finish to claim the Junior title, so it's been difficult to concentrate on occasions. I better not doing anything silly though, as I'll be in big trouble when I get home!

R37. Steve Rokland (NOR) / Tom Andre Haldammen (NOR) - Ford Fiesta R1
Absolutely perfect. I've had no problems and although the wet roads are very difficult to drive on, it's great experience for me.
